Oscars 2013

I must admit this year I was a bit disappointed by the wardrobe at the Oscars. Once again the strapless neckline and the "Old Hollywood Glamour" look took over. I feel as though if you're going to do a strapless neckline, please balance it out with jewelry (ie. Eva Mendes and her turquoise necklace and white Dior combo in 2009). I feel like everyone needed a little bit more drama in their ensembles, but I guess that's what the after partiers are for?

The ladies that caught my eye:

1. Even though some people complained there was too much going on with Zoe's dress, I disagree! Somehow the combination of ombre layers, floral applique, and the belt worked in her favor. It also helps that she has an amazing figure!

2. What took me by surprise was Charlize Theron's hair rather than her dress. She rocked that pixie cut with such confidence and her makeup was flawless. I would have liked to see her in a more dramatic dress though.

3. Loved that Jennifer Lawrence didn't give a shit when falling up the stairs. She also managed to pull together her acceptance speech with such humor and grace. The Dior Haute Couture confection she was wearing was beautiful, but looked more like a bridal gown without the runway head piece.

4. Stacy Keibler and Naomi Watts were visions in gunmetal sequins! Both necklines were flattering and I am glad they didn't take the strapless route.

I might need to try this back necklace idea one day...if I ever go anywhere fancy haha. I liked Jennifer's dainty necklace, but sadly you can't see it unless the camera zooms up on it. That Tiffany & Co. necklace on Anne Hathaway was gorg! Too bad the dress didn't live up to her usual standards :(

Aside from Argo winning Best Picture and watching JGL and Daniel Radcliffe dance, we all know the only thing that mattered last night: THIS MOMENT with Amanda Seyfried, Samantha Barks, and Eddie Redmayne. The cast of Les Misérables took the stage and stole the night. What a beautiful performance!
